In Shwebo, Labutta, Launglon, and Tharawady towns, 17 local civilians have been arbitrarily arrested, and over 60 residents from Mounthang Sanpyu village in Budalin have also been detained by the military as human shields, according to local sources.
In Shwebo, Sagaing Region, four women from a beauty salon in the Inda neighborhood were arrested by the military at approximately 11 PM on June 11, along with a married couple from the same neighborhood.
The military forced the salon’s door open and, when it was not opened, fired shots, leading to the arbitrary arrest of the salon owner, Nyaung Aye, and two female employees.
Additionally, two married individuals, Ko Khine and Ma Myo, were also arrested by the military, with those detained taken to the 42nd battalion, where communication has been lost.
In Labutta Township, a former administrator named U Nyan Soe from Kayar village was arbitrarily arrested by the military at around 3:30 PM on June 16.
In Launglon and Tharawady townships, on June 17, 16, and 14, nine civilians and one youth from Goain village were also arbitrarily arrested, according to local residents.
On June 17 at approximately 1 AM, two individuals named U Tin Than and U Tin Htun were arrested in Launglon, while at 9:30 AM, a person known as Daw Me Nge and another at 12:30 PM in front of a school in Goain village were also arbitrarily detained.
On June 16 at around 4 PM, the military again arrested six individuals living in Launglon, including Ko Zaw Lut, Ko Chan, Ko Laar Oo, Ko Zaw Moe, Daw Thi Po, and Ma Chuu Win Nwe.
On June 14, three civilians named Ko Than U, Ko Chit Myat Htwe, and Ko Ko Maung from the eastern side of Tharawady township were also arbitrarily arrested at approximately 1:30 PM.
In Budalin Township, Sagaing Region, the military entered Mounthang Sanpyu village on the morning of June 16 and detained over 60 civilians in a hospital as human shields, according to local sources.
Moreover, the military also set fire to and destroyed five civilian-owned homes and a council office within the village, establishing a military presence at the local hospital.
