July 23, 2022

In a recent clash in Kinhmun village, located in Kale Township of Sagaing Region, at least 15 soldiers were reported dead following a counterattack by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) against the military’s offensive that began on July 18.

Starting from July 18, the military, with around 100 troops, advanced through Kyaokar village, crossing the Myitsone River toward the southeastern mountain areas. On July 21, at approximately 8 AM, various PDF units—including PDF (Kalay) units 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7, along with the Kalay People’s Army (KPA), CNDF – Vakok, CDF – KKG, and RKDF—coordinated a fierce counterattack near the eastern side of Kinhmun village and engaged in intense fighting throughout the day.

Today, local residents gathered to honor and welcome some members of the People’s Defense Forces who participated in the clash, recognizing their efforts in defending their community.
