In Thibaw Township, Shan State, a military airstrike involving drones and heavy artillery has resulted in injuries to six civilians, including two women, according to the TNLA. On September 17, around 5:30 PM, military forces launched continuous artillery fire into the city, targeting areas where civilians were present. A shell struck the main temple, injuring a 60-year-old woman, Daw Nge, while a vehicle was burned, destroying its contents.
Additionally, the military conducted further bombings using a Y-12 aircraft in the Wekwan market area, injuring a 14-year-old girl during the attack. Reports indicate that around 7 PM, two bombs were dropped by a jet fighter, followed by approximately 60 more from a Y-12 aircraft around 7:30 PM, with most of the explosions occurring within populated neighborhoods.
In the Tanintharyi Region, drone strikes on villages have injured four civilians and caused damage to one house, as reported by the KNU. On September 11, military forces launched a drone attack on the Kyaukhtain village cluster, injuring four residents: 57-year-old Daw Santhi, 40-year-old Daw Santhwe, 18-year-old Ma Phyu Zin Aye, and 21-year-old Maung Nay Naing Thu.
On September 12, two more drone bombs were dropped in the Kwinthit village, damaging the home of U Thiha. The military has reportedly been targeting civilian areas and businesses with artillery and aerial strikes, causing widespread fear among the population as they flee for safety. Essential supplies, including food, medicine, and shelter, are increasingly in need due to the ongoing conflict.
The military has also blocked access for civilians to the main bridge on the Tanintharyi-Thakyek road, creating additional hardships for the local population trying to obtain basic necessities, according to KNU reports.
