Military Forces Kill Three Civilians and Burn Down Homes in Phon Village, Myinchan Township

In a brutal incursion, the military entered Phon Village in Myinchan Township, Mandalay Region, killing three civilians and burning down three homes, according to local sources.

This incident occurred around 7 a.m. on September 26, when armed soldiers from the 15th Battalion of Myinchan Township raided the village. The victims, identified as 53-year-old Ko Aung Kyaw Zin, 52-year-old Ko Ye Win, and 45-year-old Ko Kyaw Zaw Win, were captured and executed during the assault.

“They killed the people and set fire to their three homes. After the killings, they left. I haven’t heard if other villagers were captured. Many villagers fled,” a local source stated.

It was reported that Ko Ye Win and Ko Kyaw Zaw Win were brothers and served as village administrators under the NLD government. Following their execution, the military allegedly placed a knife in the hand of one victim and took photos before departing the scene.
