The Myanmar military launched at least four airstrikes on villages along the Ayeyarwady River in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the deaths of a toddler and his mother, according to Wetlet Informational Network spokesperson Ko Ngalay.
Reports indicate that on the afternoon of October 21, airstrikes were conducted at 4:07, 4:14, 4:48, and 6:26 p.m., involving one J-fighter jet from Meiktila, three J-fighter jets from Tada-U, and two Mi-35 helicopters targeting villages along the Ayeyarwady riverbank.
“The first airstrike was carried out by one J-fighter jet from Tada-U at 4:07 p.m. on the western side of Madaya Township. A second attack followed with two Mi-35 helicopters from Tada-U between 4:14 and 4:48 p.m. In this third strike, a 28-year-old woman and her one-year-old son were killed immediately, with at least four other villagers injured,” Ko Ngalay stated.
The fourth airstrike took place at 6:26 p.m., when three J-fighter jets targeted an area in western Madaya Township, causing further civilian casualties. Wetlet Informational Network is continuing to investigate the exact number of affected individuals, Ko Ngalay confirmed.
