Myanmar Nationals in South Korea Protest Against Chinese Government’s Involvement in Myanmar’s Internal Affairs

November 24, 2024

Today, Myanmar nationals in South Korea held a protest against the Chinese government’s involvement in Myanmar’s internal affairs, marching from Seoul Station to the Chinese embassy. The protest, which lasted from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Korean Standard Time), was organized by Myanmar citizens in South Korea, with support from the MFDMC, the Spring Revolution Strikers Union, and Korean political and religious organizations supporting Myanmar’s democracy movement. Over 200 participants took part in the demonstration.

During the protest, participants delivered letters and public declarations to the Chinese embassy. These letters expressed the demands and messages from Myanmar’s strikers and citizens regarding the Chinese government’s support for Myanmar’s military junta. The protesters called for the Chinese government to end its interference in Myanmar’s internal affairs and to stand against the military regime’s actions.

The protestors voiced their disapproval of China’s continued backing of the military junta, which they claim undermines Myanmar’s democracy and worsens the suffering of the people. The action was a coordinated effort to bring international attention to the issue, particularly urging China to reconsider its stance and support the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.
