Two Civilians Killed, Three Injured in Airstrike on Thagon Village by Myanmar Military

The Myanmar military conducted an airstrike on Thagon Village, Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, dropping two 500-pound bombs, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to three others, according to a representative from the Yesagyo Township People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The attack occurred in the early hours of January 16, around 1:00 a.m., when two military aircraft targeted Thagon Village in the Yaylaykyun area of Yesagyo Township. There was no prior conflict in the area when the airstrike took place.

Among the deceased were a 16-year-old male youth and a 55-year-old man, while three others sustained injuries.

The airstrike is one of many similar attacks reported across Myanmar, as the military continues its campaign against resistance forces and civilians in contested regions.
