Momauk Township: Airstrike Kills 7 Family Members, Including 3 Children, and Injures 9 Others

An airstrike carried out by the military on Nan Ei Shan and Waing Yang villages in Momauk Township, Kachin State, has resulted in the deaths of seven family members, including three children, and left nine others injured. Local residents confirmed that the attack occurred despite no active clashes in the area.

The airstrike took place in the early hours of February 19, 2025, at around 1:19 a.m., when a military jet dropped four bombs on Nan Ei Shan and Waing Yang villages. According to reports, the victims from Waing Yang village included U Maung Oo, 53; Daw Aye Saw, 56; U Sein Lyan, 25; Daw Cherry Htwe, 22; Ma Kali Ya, 3; Ma Yoon Mimi Sar, 10; and Maung Aung Lin Htet, 9. All seven were members of the same family.

Additionally, nine civilians from Nan Ei Shan village sustained injuries, and four homes were destroyed during the attack. The airstrike has caused significant devastation to both villages, according to local sources.
