The Myanmar military launched an attack on Nwal Khwe and Chaung Ma villages in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, using both airstrikes and ground assaults, resulting in the deaths of at least six people, including a member of the local People’s Defense Force (PDF), according to an official from the Chaung-U People’s Defense Force (CHUPDF).

On February 25, at around noon, heavily reinforced military troops from the Northwestern Regional Military Command (Na Ma Kha) and soldiers from Myapulay Gate advanced towards the villages. The attack began with an initial airstrike by a jet fighter, followed by additional bombing from two paramotor units dispatched from Na Ma Kha. Ground forces then launched heavy artillery shelling before advancing into the villages.

The initial airstrike reportedly caused the deaths of at least six civilians. Additional casualties resulted from continued bombardment by paramotor units and artillery fire. Preliminary reports indicate that among the deceased was a member of the CHUPDF’s combat unit. The exact number of casualties is still being verified.
