Three civilians from Maung Ma Kan Village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, were arrested and killed by junta soldiers, according to a spokesperson from the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DMSC).
The incident took place on the evening of September 12, when junta troops raided Maung Ma Kan Village, entering homes and arresting civilians. The bodies of the three victims were found in a nearby garden on the morning of September 27.
The identities of the arrested civilians have not yet been confirmed. “The Maung Ma Kan police station was attacked around noon that day. By evening, they had started arresting people. The arrested individuals were just ordinary civilians, taken from their homes,” said a DMSC official.
The victims were two men in their thirties and one man in his twenties. The DMSC stated that these arrests and killings are yet another war crime committed by the junta against civilians.
“This is another war crime against civilians. On one hand, they talk about peace, while on the other, they continue these brutal, unjust killings. There’s no way to trust the junta politically,” the DMSC spokesperson added.
