Myanmar Military Airstrikes Hit Villages in Matayar and Bilin Townships, Injuring 5 and Destroying 9 Homes

The Myanmar military carried out airstrikes on villages in Matayar Township, Mandalay Region, according to local residents.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. on February 17, a jet fighter bombed Sitinekan Village and the area near Kyauktan Bridge in Matayar Township three times. Later, at around 9:12 a.m., the military attacked the vicinity of Boe Gone Village with an Mi-35 helicopter, witnesses reported.

While the extent of civilian casualties remains unconfirmed, five individuals sustained injuries, and nine houses were destroyed as a result of the strikes. The attacks forced many villagers to flee their homes to seek safety, residents stated.

The recent airstrikes highlight the escalating violence in the region, leaving civilians in vulnerable and precarious conditions as military operations continue.
