Airstrike in Tharkyin Village, Gantgaw Township Kills Five, Including Family Members

On the evening of December 31, 2024, at approximately 9:45 PM, the military junta launched an airstrike on Tharkyin village in Gantgaw Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the deaths of five family members. Two bodies were recovered, while three others were found dismembered, with body parts and remains scattered. Local residents reported that the attack caused significant destruction, with five houses destroyed and nine cattle killed.

The bombing, which occurred without prior combat, targeted a family within the village. While two members of the family were found as complete corpses, the other three were left unrecognizable, with only fragments of their bodies and flesh recovered. The airstrike, part of the ongoing military offensive, led to further devastation in civilian areas, exacerbating the suffering of the local population.
